On the 18th and 19th September the Geography department took over thirty KS4 students on a two day residential trip to Cumbria. The pupils were a credit to the school and showed fantastic resilience given the almost constant heavy rain they experienced.
The first day saw the group tackle a walk around the Coniston lower fells with some rather impressive waterfalls seen, and for some it was their first sheep experience and hiking up a height more than C floor! Good teamwork was also seen when negotiating their way down some rather perilous rocks.
The evening activity was setting overnight humane-mammal traps in the woods and taking part in teamwork activities.
Saturday was filled with a river study for our GCSE students of the River Eer from source to mouth via a meander to Cartmels sticky toffee shop in the middle course, followed by marshmallows around the camp fire.
A fantastic experience for all involved.
