Over forty of our Year 11 separate science students attended the Physics at Work residential event at Cambridge University on the 14th and 15th September. The exhibition allowed our students to interact with scientific researchers and current PhD students as well as discover Cambridge University and life as a university student. Blackpool Aspire academy works in partnership with Churchill College which supported students from the North West area.
Our students encountered neuroscience using brian waves and MRI scanners, quantum physics and alloys and superconductors in extreme conditions. They also had the opportunity to discuss and discover a variety of careers in physics, how practical problems are solved using science and walked around the colleges within the city itself.
Displaying exemplary behaviour and attitude during the presentations and lectures, this was a great experience and opportunity for them all.
