The CGI DWP finals, as part of Green Careers week, have been very exciting this week where our students were given the chance to present their ideas and creations regarding real-world STEM challenges.
The feedback from the businesses was very positive with individual students being recognised for how engaged they were throughout the day and how innovative their ideas were.
Congratulations to the following teams on their projects and wins:
Best display: Litter Robots - Mollie, Hannah-Rose, Lexie-May, Phoebe, Emmy and Millie-Rose.
Most Innovative: Let's make Blackpool better - Klerisa, Leah, Sham, Riona, Victoria and Lacey.
2nd Place: Blackpool.com - Mia, Princess, Lacey, Tristain and Brennan.
Each member of the teams received a £15 Amazon voucher.
Both Litter Robots and Let's make Blackpool better caught the eye of the Blackpool Council teams present, copies of the presentations have been given and sent to them so they can share with their colleagues.
The two robots' ideas were also discussed with the engineering teams from the DWP, who were very impressed, and once again shared the presentations with their colleagues - so if you see those robots roaming the streets of Blackpool one day, remember the Aspire teams were behind the ideas!
Congratulations also to all students for the effort and resilience shown throughout the day as they presented their projects in front of six judges, three of whom were directors from the DWP and Ameon as well as the London based CGI President of the United Kingdom and Australia Operations and the CGI Senior Vice President Consulting Services - Government & Justice. They also discussed their ideas with local businesses as part of their stall display.
A nerve wracking but worthwhile experience!
