Year 10 biology students have been learning about the building blocks of life using nothing more than Fruit Pastels and Midget Gems!

DNA was first identified by James Watson and Francis Crick and, together with Maurice Wilkins, won the 1962 Nobel Prize in Medicine for their discovery of the structure of DNA. This was one of the most significant scientific discoveries of the 20th century.

The Year 10 students have been creating their very own ‘Willy Wonka style’ nucleotides to study the finer details of DNA structure, as seen above.
